Trends in home construction - both interior and exterior features - are continually evolving. This section of our website includes hot trends and facts in interior and exterior design, products that incorporate energy conservation and more. Check back often as our topics change each month.
Trend #1: Fibre Flooring
Fibre flooring is a new kind of resilient flooring in North AmericaPopular in Europe for over a decade, fibre flooring is made of advanced fibreglass, foam and resilient layers. The flooring stands up to water, moisture, scuffs, scratches and indentations for carefree maintenance and exceptional durability.

Another trend in home construction is insulation made from recycled glass content. Most insulation contains some recycled material. So at the same time as saving heating and cooling costs, you can feel good about decreasing waste going into landfills.
Choosing recycled home insulation:
Companies like Owens Corning use at least 70% recycled glass content in their insulation. They recommend insulating your attic to an R-50 rating or topping it up to 15" which saves half a tonne of greenhouse emissions gases per year. Many insulation companies use recyclable packaging. You can also check if the insulation is GREENGUARD™ certified to meet stringent indoor air quality standards.
